FSG Search Process

Although every search assignment is unique in many ways, our proven 10 step process allows us to provide our clients with the best possible means for securing and onboarding exceptional hires.

1. GETTING TO KNOW YOU
We begin by getting to know our client. We gain a clear understanding of the position, its details, the company, and its culture.

2. OPPORTUNITY FACT SHEET
We generate a detailed Fact Sheet emphasizing the client's opportunity, company and Industry profile within today’s business environment, the position's mandate, and key requirements for candidate success.

3. SEARCH & RESEARCH
We then begin our research. Having been focused in the accounting and finance field for over 19 years, we know where to seek potential candidates. Utilizing our comprehensive industry database, extensive referral network, and through original research, we identify and commence to contact our list of potential candidates.

4. CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS
We interview interested candidates to assess their skills, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and fit for the company and opportunity. During our search for the Right Candidate Fit, we make sure to sell, but not oversell the opportunity. We also at this point commence to counsel and probe the candidates with regards to expectations, start dates, resignation, and counter-offers.

5. SETTING UP CLIENT INTERVIEWS
We then present only the best qualified candidates using a “just in time” philosophy...
We will not waste our client’s time with “fillers”.
We then prepare both our clients and candidates for interview.

6. DEBRIEFING CALLS
Within 24 hours of the interview, we debrief both the candidate and client. We are there as the middle person, to help clarify, prevent misunderstandings, and provide valuable feedback to both the client and candidate.

7. REFERENCE CHECKING
Detailed reference checks are conducted on finalist candidates.

8. THE OFFER STAGE
As a third party, we provide valuable assistance and insight in developing an offer and its terms. Our goal is to generate an offer that will be accepted.

9. TESTING THE OFFER
As our goal is to present an offer that will be accepted, we first TEST the offer before officially presenting it in order to see if it will indeed be accepted. We then respond according to what transpires and act as the third party negotiator as needed. After all is well, we present the official offer and once again counsel the candidate with regards to resignation and counter-offers.

10. PREPARING A SMOOTH TRANSITION
Once the offer is accepted and signed, we then keep in contact with both our client and candidate to assure a smooth transition. This is actually a very critical time and we highly recommend that clients continue to build rapport and actually start the onboarding process prior to the candidate’s start date.
